Certified Wisconsin Batterers Treatment Provider
Although early on in my career, I'm incredibly passionate about Criminal Justice and Social Work. My educational journey has been rewarding, starting with earning an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Western Technical College and then achieving a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice-Corrections from Winona State University. My passion for change led me to complete the Social Work Training Certificate Program through Upper Iowa University. I recently completed my Masters of Social Work at Walden University, increasing both my knowledge and skills within the social work field.
I've been fortunate to gain valuable experience across diverse areas throughout my career. Over the last 2.5 years, I’ve worked as a Child Protection professional, cultivating empathy and efficiency to positively impact vulnerable individuals' lives. Before that, I dedicated myself wholeheartedly to assisting those facing mental health and substance use challenges in a service facilitation role within Comprehensive Community Services. Being an active member of the Vernon County Trauma Task Force brings me immense pride as it allows me to contribute actively to my community and support those in need. My research interests fuel my desire to drive meaningful change, as I'm passionate about studying the impact of addiction and domestic violence on children and child abuse prevention and intervention. Additionally, I'm deeply invested in understanding the effects of working in public service and military roles on mental health and exploring burnout and compassion fatigue in public service.
Beyond my professional pursuits, my heart finds joy in traveling, camping, kayaking, fishing, and spending quality time with my husband and cherished family.
I am excited to learn from each other as we take this journey together!
As an advanced practice social worker, my field study encompasses a master's degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater, specializing in clinical social work. Complementing this, I hold a BA in History focusing on Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. During my undergraduate studies, I found my calling in the helping profession of social work, where I aspire to make a profound impact on the lives of individuals navigating challenging life events and experiences.
My postgraduate studies provided invaluable opportunities, including an enriching internship at the Milwaukee VA, where I offered therapeutic interventions in an outpatient setting. Working closely with licensed professionals, I facilitated group therapy sessions for individuals grappling with complex post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and anxiety.
Throughout my professional journey, I have been actively involved in addressing housing challenges and have acquired extensive experience supporting individuals facing diverse mental and physical health diagnoses. My versatility extends to my work with Child Protection Services (CPS), where I have provided essential support and resources to foster parents.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I find solace in spending quality time with my three canine companions and reading while embracing nature's beauty in outdoor activities.
I am genuinely excited about collaborating with you and witnessing the positive transformations that can be realized through our efforts together.
